Other Competitive Opportunities

Ladybirds is a Brunswick County golf league that hosts competitions from April to November. This is a low-key friendly league that provides a dash of competition following USGA rules with the opportunity to meet many ladies from other clubs in our area.  All players will play with ladies with like handicaps.  Currently, there are twelve golf clubs including Compass Pointe which compete for individual and club prizes. Other clubs are Brick Landing, Carolina Shores, Carolina National, Compass Pointe, The Lakes, Lockwood Folly, Magnolia Greens, Meadowlands, Oak Island, River’s Edge, Sea Trail and St. James. Each club will host one event during the season.
Ladies of the Pointe (LOP) can field 10 players for each shotgun start competition.  The entry fee ranges from $40 to $60 per golfer depending on the course being played.  Your entry fee includes an 18-hole green fee, cart fee, prizes, and bag boy tips. Tournaments are flighted by handicap and there could be up to 8 flights depending on size of the field.  The prize of a sleeve of balls is awarded to 1st and 2nd Low Gross, 1st and 2nd Low Net and Fewest Putts winners in each flight. Additional prizes are awarded at the end of the year.
To be eligible to play:
  • You must be a member of LOP and your home membership (where your GHIN resides) is Compass Pointe.
  • Must have a maximum USGA Index of 40.0 or below.
Interested players will receive an email invite through Tee Time Helper.  Ten ladies will be selected for the competition with the next four chosen as alternates.  We ask that if you played the most recent Ladybird competition, you step back from requesting to play the subsequent one to allow all interested ladies to enjoy Ladybirds.

Compass Pointe Golf Club participates in the Coastal Carolina Ladies Interclub League of which eight (8) golf clubs are members. They are: Cape Fear National, Compass Pointe, CC of Landfall, Magnolia Greens, Pine Valley, Porters Neck, River Landing and St. James Plantation.
Interclub is a competitive match play golf competition against all the above clubs. Each club fields eight (8) players and plays using 100% of USGA course handicap. A maximum GHIN index of 30 is in place. The play format is a match play consisting of two player teams from each club against two player teams from the opponent club. Points are accumulated for each club for the season. The club who accumulates the most points throughout the year will be awarded the Interclub trophy. In addition to the match play, the paired foursomes compete against the other paired foursomes in each flight for the best net ball. Gift certificates from the host club are awarded to the paired foursome winners in each flight.
The season starts in March through September with a goal to have one match per month. The fee for visiting players is $65 each per match play.
To participate, you must be a member of Compass Pointe Golf Club and Ladies of the Pointe with a USGA index of 30 or less.  A signup will be sent via email at the beginning of the season to form a pool of participants. The team will be selected each month based on availability and player's GHIN index (handicap).
